Getting Into Others' World

An incredible thing happens when I get on the floor and roll around and play with my 10-month-old son. When I focus on getting into his world, look him in the eye and wonder what he is thinking, and play with him as though I was his same age, a magical thing happens. Real connection happens. We all have a 10-month-old inside us. We all want to play and laugh and want to be the center of attention. When you want to make a real connection with others, get into their world. Focus and stay in their world for a while with no strings attached; a gift with nothing in it for you except experience. Think about things from their perspective. Be interested and engaged. Treat them as warmly as you would treat a 10-month-old. Have fun. Get into their world.
