The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals - by Michael Pollan

The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals - by Michael Pollan

Date read: 2015-03-02. How strongly I recommend it: 10/10

This book changed the way I shop at the grocery store (I avoid the center isles whenever possible partly because of this book). Michael Pollan does a wonderful job of deconstructing the food distribution and processing that happens in America. I recommend this book to anyone that eats.

Folks, This Ain't Normal: A Farmer's Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World - by Joel Salatin

Folks, This Ain't Normal: A Farmer's Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World - by Joel Salatin

Date read: 2018-09-11. How strongly I recommend it: 10/10

Our food system in America is a house of cards ready to fall when energy costs return to normalcy. Joel's book is full of great facts and ideas for how we can eat great food without relying on cheap energy. It calls out Monsanto, and CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations). There is great information on becoming more resilient such as how to grow food, keep warm, and raise healthy children. If you eat, this is a good book to read.

The 4-Hour Chef: The Simple Path to Cooking Like a Pro, Learning Anything, and Living the Good Life - by Timothy Ferriss

Date read: 2018-04-05. How strongly I recommend it: 10/10

Tim Ferriss took me through a learning experience to take back my kitchen in this book. This book has more than just great recipes (although there are tons of those in it too). Tim provides tips on tools for the kitchen, preparation, how to entertain, how to survive in the woods, and how to buy a rifle to name just a few of the interesting topics.
